Cavotagoo - Mykonos

Located in Chora Mykonos, the award-winning Cavo Tagoo Mykonos offers a 40-meter infinity pool with an aquarium bar, a fully equipped spa with an indoor pool, and accommodations mostly with sea views. Some complete with a whirlpool bathtub, the rooms, suites and villas are individually decorated in a minimalist style and equipped with complimentary toiletries including bathrobes and slippers, flat-screen TVs and Simmons mattresses; you'll find a private pool in certain accommodations. In addition, the property is entirely covered by free WiFi. The Cavo Tagoo Spa offers traditional facial, body and beauty treatments, color therapy, a sauna and a steam room. A gym is located next to the spa.

Tagoo Restaurant serves Mediterranean cuisine with fresh Greek ingredients. A buffet breakfast with delicious croissants and tarts is served in the morning. Overlooking the city and the island of Delos, the lounge-bar area is located by the infinity pool with iridescent coloured lights and wooden decks that seem to float on the water. The Cavo Tagoo Mykonos also features a 24-hour front desk where guests can request babysitting, laundry and daily delivery services to their accommodation, concierge services, a doctor on call and on-site parking at no extra charge.

What we liked most

Of 83 units, over half are “superior” rooms, suites or villas. These are worth the extra outlay for full/elevated sea views, DVD players and music systems, upgraded internet access and quasi-private – if chilly – plunge-pools (neighbours can actually see in). Bathrooms are marble clad and feature whirlpool baths and premium Korres sundries, Greece’s answer (along with rival Apivita) to Molton & Brown. Decor and furnishings are resolutely minimalist, tending towards IKEA, in subdued tones with the only splashes of colour from the chairs. However, they are well kept, with Simmons orthopaedic mattresses and annual makeovers as needed.

Cave pool suite

Pure white walls and chic interiors – if the combination of luxury and comfort had a name, it would be Cavo Tagoo. Presenting a variety of room types catering to different families, guests have the choice between separate rooms, villas or suites. Yet, while widely different, each accommodation type boasts the same wooden floors and beautiful stone walls. All rooms of the hotel offer a gorgeous view of the ocean. However, it is the breathtaking sunsets by the glistening water that usually have everyone sold, in a moment’s span.

Food and Drink

The on-site restaurant offers a Greek menu at lunchtime but becomes the Kiku Sushi Bar by night, very accomplished food with some walk-in trade but five-star pricey. The "full US" buffet breakfast (served at poolside) is generous and universally praised. But even for Mýkonos, pool-bar drinks starting at €12 are a bit stiff.

Apart from mouth watering room service, the Cavo Tagoo Mykonos tantalizes the taste buds of its guests with innovative delicacies. The morning begins with a lavish buffet featuring typical items like croissants and scrumptious tarts. However, as the night falls, the dining experience is taken up a notch as the aroma of Mediterranean cuisine fills the air. In summer, the feature restaurant of the Cavo Tagoo Mykonos, Zuma, offers a pop-up with traditional Japanese cuisine – bound to leave you desiring more.

Services and facilities

Built specifically as a luxury retreat, the Cavo Tagoo Mykonos places the relaxation of its guests at top priority. This is why, along with stunning views, the hotel comes equipped with a grand infinity pool. Yet what sets it apart – is the 40m mesmerizing aquarium bar with it! Conversely, for those who find relaxation in spas rather than pools; the Cavo Tagoo Golden Spa is a treat to visit. Using premium ingredients and signature massage styles – the Thai massage can ease relaxation and unraveling after days of work.

Genuinely five-star attentive, from clued-up, flawlessly turned out staff; common facilities include a naturally lit basement pool, spa with steam bath, sauna and couple's massage room and a decently equipped fitness centre (though this has no natural light). Transfers from/to sea- or airport (for a charge) by arrangement. Services includes: Parking, Restaurant, Bar, Laundry Room, service Pool, Sauna Spa, Wi-Fi, Fitness centre, Steam room/hammam.
