Most Singapore hotels sell you a view of Marina Bay. At The Fullerton Bay you can sit in your own pool and look straight at it.

The hotel stands right on the waterfront at Collyer Quay, between the old Clifford Pier and the Customs House, where the Singapore River opens into the bay. It's a modern building, opened in 2010, with only 100 rooms. That's small for a city hotel in this part of Singapore, and it keeps the place calm.

Don't confuse it with The Fullerton Hotel

Singapore has two Fullerton hotels a few steps apart, and people mix them up all the time.

  • The Fullerton Hotel Singapore is the big one, about 400 rooms inside the 1928 Fullerton Building, with columns, heritage tours and an infinity pool over the Singapore River.

  • The Fullerton Bay Hotel, the one we're reviewing here, is its smaller, newer sister on the bay. It's the more exclusive of the two.

If you want history, pick the first. If you want the water right under your window, pick this one.

The room that makes the trip

There are only two Premier Bay View Rooms with Jacuzzi in the whole hotel, and this is the reason to book The Fullerton Bay.

The hotel calls it a jacuzzi. In person it feels more like a small private pool: it sits on your own outdoor sundeck, a few centimetres above the water, right where the Singapore River opens into Marina Bay. It's kept at 35 degrees and faces Marina Bay Sands across the water. At night, with the city lit up in front of you, it's hard to describe. We haven't found another room like it in Singapore.

The room itself is around 58 square metres, with floor-to-ceiling windows, a separate bathtub and shower, Diptyque amenities and butler service. All of that is good. None of it is why you'll remember the stay.

The rooftop

Up on the roof there's a 25-metre pool with daybeds and Lantern, the hotel's bar, looking across Marina Bay. Go before sunset for a swim, then stay for a drink when the lights come on.

Food and drink

Breakfast is served at La Brasserie. Downstairs, The Clifford Pier restaurant sits inside the restored 1933 pier, and The Landing Point, a covered marble walkway with sofas, links the pier to the hotel.

Who should book it

Book it for a short city stay, ideally two or three nights, and ask for one of the two rooms with the private pool as early as you can. With only two, they go first. If you're here for a family holiday with lots of space, the bigger Fullerton Hotel next door works better.

Choosing your room

The main decision here is city view or bay view. Deluxe and Premier Rooms measure 45 to 50 square metres and look over the city. Bay View Rooms are 46 to 53 square metres, Bay View Corner Rooms 51 to 58 and the Premier Bay View Room 58, all facing Marina Bay.

If the two rooms with the jacuzzi are already taken, the Premier Bay View Room gives you the same size and the same outlook without the private pool. On a city stay of two or three nights, a bay view is worth more here than extra floor space.

The five Theme Suites measure 78 square metres each, with a balcony and a separate living room, and each one is named after a governor of the Straits Settlements. Anderson draws on Peranakan textiles, Cavenagh on the colonial era, Clifford on Malay motifs, Robinson on Oriental panelling and Shenton on Mughal art. At the top is the Presidential Suite, at 152 square metres. Wheelchair-accessible rooms can be requested, subject to availability.

Restaurants and bars

La Brasserie is the hotel's French restaurant, listed by Tatler among its Best Spotlight Restaurants for 2026. Breakfast runs from 6.30 to 10.30 every morning, lunch is served on weekdays and dinner every evening, and the Joie de Vivre brunch takes over on Saturdays and Sundays from 12.30 to 3 pm. The dress code is semi-casual: shorts, activewear and slippers are not allowed at weekday lunch or at dinner, although shorts are fine at the weekend brunch.

The Landing Point is built around a 13-metre bar and opens daily from 10 am to 10 pm, with food from 11 am. Afternoon tea comes in two seatings, from noon to 2.30 pm and from 3.30 to 6 pm, with live piano every day. There is live music on Friday and Sunday evenings, and the bar pours a Heritage Series of cocktails inspired by Singapore's past. The dress code is smart casual.

Lantern, on the roof, opens at 3 pm and closes at 1 am, or at 2 am on Fridays, Saturdays and the eve of public holidays. A resident DJ plays from Wednesday to Saturday between 7 and 11 pm, and Sundays bring a Brazilian barbecue from 5 to 9 pm. Book a table if you want one at sunset.

Around the bay

The hotel sits among the sights most visitors come to Singapore for. Merlion Park, National Gallery Singapore and Esplanade are all close by, and Gardens by the Bay and the Singapore Flyer are within walking distance. For dinner out, the bars and restaurants of Boat Quay are a short walk along the river, and a good place to order Singapore chilli crab.

Hotel guests can join free one-hour heritage tours, each limited to 20 people. The tour of the Fullerton Building, Singapore's 71st National Monument, has guest-only slots at 10 am on Mondays and Thursdays and at 3.45 pm on Saturdays. A second tour tells the story of the waterfront through Clifford Pier and the Customs House, with guest-only slots at 3.45 pm on Fridays and 10 am on Sundays. Register with the concierge.

The hotel belongs to The Fullerton Heritage precinct, together with The Fullerton Hotel next door and The Fullerton Waterboat House, so most tours start a few steps from your room. Changi Airport is about 25 minutes away by taxi, and the hotel can arrange transfers if you prefer to be met on arrival.
